Almost ecru/white-cream colour with a slight dark flecking.

From spring 2025 the blend will gradually alter slightly to 65% Bluefaced Leicester | 30% Romney | 5% Zwartbles 100% British from farm to needle.

(Spins prior to spring 2025 were a blend of 50% Bluefaced Leicester | 30% Romney | 15% Masham | 5% Zwartbles - 100% British from farm to needle.)

I wanted a yarn that brought together drape, memory, lustre and bounce, with added depth and saturation of colour from the heathering of dark Zwartbles fibres, then topped off with a gentle halo . Worsted spun for a smooth and strong yarn, this custom blend has been designed to be the single yarn base that replaces all the yarns that have been stocked at Telling Yarns in the past.

40% Grey Exmoor Blueface | 30% Romney | 30% BFL 100% British from farm to needle.

Grey Exmoor Blueface maintains softness, while providing a vein of mid-grey/brown that pumps through the ecru Romney and BFL. For all those mid-tones in the Telling Yarns collection, that need both clarity and depth, there are the wonderful Dark Friends and Heart of the Dark bases.  Sitting perfectly between the light shades of Resolute/Steadfast and the darkness of Night Gathers/Take the Black.

A brand new almost blended dark-grey/brown base, headed to the shop in spring 2025.

40% Grey Exmoor Blueface | 20% BFL | 20% Romney | 20% Zwartbles 100% British from farm to needle.

Only 20% of the blend is white/ecru wool, with 40% a mid-grey/brown and the last 20% a darker black/brown. Bringing depth to the most saturated colours in the Telling Yarns collection, whilst retaining that flecked, almost tweed-like finish, to the hand-dyed nuances of tone.  Not overly blended during gilling, so as to retain the clarity of a light yarn base within the streaks of darkness.  It is the ultimate dark side to Resolute/Steadfast and knits perfectly with those and/or Dark Friends/Heart of the Dark.
